By Leadership Johnson County | | 1.26.26

Leadership Johnson County is now accepting applications for the Youth Leadership Academy, a dynamic five-month leadership development program designed for high school students who want to learn more about their community while building confidence, skills, and connections. The Youth Leadership Academy brings together a select group of Johnson County high school juniors and seniors for an engaging, hands-on experience focused on leadership, teamwork, and civic awareness. Through interactive sessions, students explore how Johnson County works, connect with local leaders, and practice real-world leadership skills in a fun and supportive learning environment. Current sophomores and juniors who live in or attend school in Johnson County are eligible to apply, including homeschool students. Participants are expected to commit to full attendance throughout the five-month program, which also includes a required opening retreat in July. “The Youth Leadership Academy is about helping students discover their potential, build relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of the community they call home,” said Tandy Shuck, Executive Director of Leadership Johnson County. “It’s an investment in the next generation of leaders.”

Applications are now live. Interested students and families can learn more by visiting the website or attending one of two info sessions:
