Member Profile: Autism Community Connection

A small nonprofit organization in Johnson County, the Autism Community Connection (ACC) mission empowers individuals with autism and their families by cultivating understanding, connection, and inclusion. Through advocacy, education, and resource sharing, ACC breaks down barriers and creates opportunities to thrive.
ACC has several quality programs for those affected by autism.
Young Adult Connection - Young Adult Connection (YAC) program is for individuals with autism aged 19 to 30 years old. The YAC program is designed for young adults with autism to make new friends while working on social, life, and soft job skills. Our group members get to choose a specific community outing each month.
My Summer Journey - My Summer Journey (MSJ) is a summer program for teens with autism, ages 13-19. The focus of the program is to make new friends, along with working on life and social skills. ACC creates a custom curriculum that includes community outings, science experiments, group activities, cooking experiments, and crafts each day.
Teen Connection - Teen Connection is a program for teens with autism, ages 13 to 19 years old. The program will focus on making new friends while working on social and life skills. Each meeting will have social group activities of getting to know each other, along with playing board games.
Throughout the year, ACC hosts several social events.

- Trunk or Treat
- Breakfast with Santa
ACC also provides family support, resources, and information for families looking for specific questions, like where to get an autism diagnosis, school issues, finding local autism centers, etc.
