Johnson County Community Foundation Received a $10,000 Contribution from the TCU Foundation to Help Expand Aspire’s Work-Based Learning and Career Exploration Program

Aspire is thrilled to announce a generous grant of $10,000 from the TCU Foundation. This significant donation will enable Aspire to expand its existing programs and bridge the gap of work-based learning across a wider range of grade levels, including elementary, middle school, and college students in Johnson County and Southern Indianapolis.

Since August 2022, Aspire's work-based learning initiatives have successfully served six Johnson County school corporations. With a primary focus on high school students, the organization has been instrumental in facilitating meaningful collaborations between local businesses and schools. However, recognizing the need to further support schools and businesses, the TCU Foundation is helping Aspire extend its reach and impact to encompass elementary, middle school, and college students.

Aspire's current program follows a two-fold approach. It actively engages employers in the region, encouraging their collaboration with schools and enabling career exploration projects targeted at high school students. It also forges strategic partnerships with those local schools to develop comprehensive work-based learning programs.

The contribution from the TCU Foundation will enable Aspire to create a variety of career exploration connections and work-based learning opportunities. These initiatives include in-person industry tours for teachers, virtual field trips, recorded industry tours, guest industry speakers, teacher field trips, and connecting students to internship and job shadowing opportunities. Through these experiences, students and teachers in many different grades will gain valuable insights into the diverse careers available locally.
