Johnson County Community Foundation Awards Emergency Response Grants to COVID-19 Needs
The Johnson County Community Foundation’s (JCCF) board of directors recently responded to the needs of the community by allocating funding and directing grants to local nonprofits that are on the front line of the battle with the COVID-19 virus.
For the first wave of funding, JCCF surveyed Johnson County nonprofits and worked hand-in-hand with the United Way of Johnson County (UWJC) to identify the greatest needs. The survey concluded that food insecurity was initially the most critical. In order to provide much-needed funding based on the surge in requests, on April 24, 2020, the JCCF emergency grants committee approved the following funding:
- Edinburgh Ministerial Association / Edinburgh Food Pantry - $5,000
- Children’s Bureau - $5,000
- Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana - $5,000
- Interchurch Food Pantry of Johnson County - $5,000
- Kic-It - $5,000
- The Refuge - $5,000
- he Salvation Army Red Shield Center - $5,000
In March, JCCF activated the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, and the board allocated $50,000 initially to the fund. In addition, a big thank you goes to all of the donors who have made contributions to the fund, in particular, the JCREMC Community Fund Operation Round-Up® advisory committee who appropriated $25,000 and Endress+Hauser USA advisory committee who appropriated $4,000 in funding.

The JCCF board will continue to monitor emergency needs through this pandemic.
