Franciscan Health Hosting Annual Christmas Remembrance on Dec. 11
The holidays can be an emotional time, especially if someone has lost a loved one.
To help make the holiday season more manageable for those in this situation, Franciscan Health and Franciscan Hospice Bereavement are hosting the annual Christmas Remembrance on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
The event is open to anyone who has lost a loved one. It will take place at Southport Presbyterian Church, located at 7525 McFarland Road in Indianapolis.
“Our Christmas Remembrance is always a very special time for the community,” said Karla Riggs-Norton, Franciscan Health bereavement coordinator. “The evening provides an opportunity to reflect on past Christmases with our loved ones and a time for honoring them. There are plenty of smiles and laughs shared, along with some tears, which is all part of the grieving and healing process. We are grateful to be able to provide an opportunity for reflection and remembrance leading into a busy holiday season.”
The “Christmas Remembrance” is a time for the entire family to remember deceased loved ones together. There will be singing of familiar Christmas carols with a 70-member choir, a candle lighting ceremony and a kids and teens reflection time, followed by fellowship and refreshments, including Christmas cookies.
Participants are encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones to be displayed on the Table of Honor in the front of the sanctuary.
Each family that attends the remembrance will receive a Christmas ornament from Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, Mich.
Register online for this free event or call the Franciscan Health Bereavement Office at (317) 528-2636.
