Franciscan Health in collaboration with Certified Yoga Instructor, Emily Phillips and Greenwood Parks and Recreation, will be hosting Yoga in the Park in Greenwood in September and October.

The Yoga in the Park series will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. at Old City Park in Greenwood, beginning Sept. 1 and concluding Oct. 13.

Yoga has been found to decrease heart rate and blood pressure as well as decrease cortisol levels during times of stress. Yoga also helps build strength, flexibility and mobility as well as reduce chronic inflammation.

Practicing yoga can also assist in weight loss, increase the production and release of serotonin and regulate bowel function and movement.

In addition, yoga can lead to clearer thinking, deeper breathing and self-awareness.

All ages and abilities are welcome and yoga mats will be provided.

Old City Park is located at 304 South Meridian St. in Greenwood.
