Franciscan Health Hosts Matter of Balance Classes in Greenwood
Many older adults experience concerns about falling and this can greatly restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
Franciscan Health will be hosting a Matter of Balance course for eight weeks, each Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Franciscan Education and Support Services Center in Greenwood from September 10 through October 29.
Those who are concerned about falls are encouraged to attend, along with anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength, those who have fallen in the past and anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns.
Participants will learn to view falls as controllable, as well as set goals for increasing activity, make changes to reduce fall risks at home and exercise to increase strength and balance.
The Franciscan Education and Support Services Center is located at 421 North Emerson Avenue in Greenwood. Participants will enter through the Visitor's Entrance and meet in Conference Room 1.
