Franklin College Achieves Enrollment Goal for Third Consecutive Year
Franklin College has achieved its ambitious first-year cohort enrollment goal for the third consecutive year, with 310 new Grizzlies joining a campus of 969 total students.
“To achieve our enrollment goal for the third year in a row amid the challenging higher education environment speaks volumes about the confidence students and families continue to place in Franklin College,” said Franklin College President Kerry N. Prather. “They see an institution that combines academic excellence with personal attention, impactful experiences and distinctive preparation for fulfilling careers and rewarding adult lives.”
The Class of 2030 is among the most academically accomplished incoming classes in recent College history. Nearly one-quarter entered Franklin with a high school GPA above 4.0.
Additional highlights of the Class of 2030 include:
- Students come from 58 Indiana counties, 11 other states, and the countries of Germany, Mexico, Bulgaria, Brazil, Serbia, India and Colombia.
- Business, exercise science, biology, elementary education and psychology are the five most popular intended majors.
- Outside the classroom, students expressed the greatest interest in athletics, Greek life, study abroad and student organizations.
- More than a dozen students are Franklin College legacies as relatives of current students or alumni.
Franklin also recorded its highest first-to-second-year persistence rate in six years, with 74.3% of last year’s entering class returning. The College continues to strengthen resources designed to help students succeed throughout their college experience. Those investments include the federally funded TRIO Student Support Services program, which provides individualized academic, career and financial support, as well as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)-funded “Creating a Community of Care” initiative, which has expanded mental health services across campus.
The overall enrollment growth reflects Franklin’s continued focus on attracting talented students to a campus environment that supports their academic success and personal development from orientation week through graduation. “We are very proud to be growing at a time when such growth among small private colleges is very challenging,” said Prather. “The entire campus community is contributing significantly to both the recruitment and the retention efforts, and the results reflect that impressive commitment.”
