Franklin College Announces New Director of Communications

Franklin College has announced the appointment of Beth Young as director of communications at the College. The position was previously held by Deidra Baumgardner, who retired from the College in May after 24 years of service.
Most recently, Young served as the senior communications manager in the Office of the Chancellor at Indiana University Indianapolis, where she led strategic communications efforts to support the University, after previously serving as a multimedia communications specialist. She also gained communications experience at the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law and the IUPUI Graduate School.
“We are very pleased to welcome Beth Young as our director of communications,” said Franklin College President Kerry N. Prather. “Beth brings impressive experience and energy to the communications team as Franklin College is engaged in multiple initiatives reflecting historical progress. From our enrollment growth to initiation of new academic programs to the renovation of the Elwood Fitness Center and the success of our comprehensive fundraising campaign, Beth will lead the effort to communicate important details to the media and our various constituencies.”
Young earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Indiana University Indianapolis. She also holds a NextGeneration 2.0 Leadership Certification from IU Indianapolis.
Young, a resident of Greenwood, began her duties at the College on June 15.
