Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County Names Carissa Long as Executive Director
Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County has named Carissa Long as its next executive director, effective Feb. 9, 2026. Long succeeds Lee Ann Wilbur, who is retiring after 15 years of dedicated service leading the organization.
Long brings more than 18 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the role. Since 2023, she has served as the associate executive director of the Indiana State Bar Association, the single largest legal organization in the state. During her time at ISBA, she served in various roles, including director of public relations and director of membership. She holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, a national designation recognizing expertise in nonprofit governance and leadership.
“On behalf of the board and community, we welcome Carissa Long as our executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Johnson County. We are grateful for her commitment to service and impact,” said Jim Gray, board president.
Long has strong ties to Johnson County through both her family and community involvement. Long and her husband are Franklin College graduates, and their family is actively involved with Leadership Johnson County – her husband is a graduate, and both sons have participated in the Youth Academy, including its inaugural class. Her husband, Eric Long, serves as principal of Indian Creek Elementary School.
“I am honored to step into this role and to build on the strong legacy Lee Ann has created,” Long said. “Habitat’s mission to build and renovate decent, affordable houses for those in need aligns closely with my Christian values and my desire to serve locally. I look forward to working alongside staff, volunteers, homeowners, donors, and partners to advance this meaningful work.”
As executive director, Long will focus on strengthening community engagement, expanding sustainable funding and partnerships, supporting staff and volunteers, and continuing to grow Habitat’s impact across Johnson County.
Community members, partners, and supporters of Habitat are encouraged to connect with Long as she begins this next chapter. She can be found on LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/carissalong.
