President of the Indiana Credit Union League, John McKenzie, was awarded the Order of Saint Maurice by the National Infantry Association for his dedication to the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame.

The Order of Saint Maurice is given by the Chairman of the National Infantry Association and the Chief of the Infantry, U.S. Army, in recognition of individuals who have contributed significantly to the Infantry, in particular demonstrating high standards of integrity and moral character.

John was recognized for his significant contribution in the support of the United States infantry through his selfless efforts of rallying credit unions across Indiana to help raise funds to build the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame Memorial.

Kevin Ryan, Vice Chairman of the Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame said, “John McKenzie is a selfless leader and definitely a man with a servant’s heart. Raising the funds to build The Indiana Military Veterans Hall of Fame Memorial to honor our Hoosier Heroes would not have been possible without his tenacity and leadership.”

The declaration on the award read: Appearing before a most judicious and discriminating committee of tried and proven Army Infantrymen and Infantry Patriots, be it known that John McKenzie was tested and found worthy special recognition. Therefore, the Chief of Infantry and the Chairman of the National Infantry Association induct him into the Honorable Order of Saint Maurice for Outstanding Contributions to the Infantry.

“The presentation of the award was a complete surprise, and I am very honored. The Memorial becoming a reality was possible because credit union leaders across the state responded with personal and business contributions so that Indiana’s credit unions could show how much we care about military veterans and their families through this collaborative effort,” states John McKenzie, President of the Indiana Credit Union League.
