What is now celebrated every October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) dates to a law passed by Congress in 1945. The purpose of NDEAM is to celebrate the many great contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. This year’s theme is “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion.”

“2021 is the year that people with disabilities have become the staffing solution for so many businesses in the most difficult labor crunch of this century,” according to corporate disability consultant and Indiana resident James Emmett. “People with disabilities are the key to economic recovery and we have fine-tuned implementation to meet our customers’ rapidly changing needs for an innovative approach to leave a strong solution of sourcing, supporting, and sustaining.”

Indiana’s Work to Include coalition has created an Employer Toolkit with resources and discussion topics related to disability inclusion.
